Special Issue on "Business and the natural environment in Asia", Submission Deadline: December 2008
Asian Business & Management is an independent journal which aims to explore topical issues in the area of Asian business and management. We pay particular attention to issues involving civil society, seeking to expand the horizons and frontiers of research and establish a truly social agenda within the field of business and management.
We are now launching two 'calls for papers' for special issues which we hope to publish over the next three years as a reflection of our keen interest in exploring new horizons in business and management studies. They will focus attention on differing aspects of the wider social implications of Asian business, from contextual and interdisciplinary perspectives. And we are also keen to provoke 'a wide range of theoretical and methodological perspectives on the two special topic areas'.

Asia's place in the world economic order today has been driven by the dynamic interaction of global capital and regional and local forces. The rapid growth of China and India and the impact of this on other Asian economies are among the issues that require scholarly scrutiny. Asia's socio-economic conditions are patently different from those of the West: a re-examination of both functional Anglo-American approaches and the 'Asian values model' are called for.
Asia offers good grounds for the study of business and management. Currently, the leading journals in the field approach Asia from the outside, as onlookers and commentators. In contrast, Asian Business & Management aims to create a new critical forum for the academic community by focusing upon Asia and Asian-based research and by encouraging the interaction of Asian academics and those from beyond the region.
