Contemporary Political Theory is now publishing the first issue of volume 7. The six years in which it has been in print have seen a continuous development in its realization of the goals that the editors set for the journal. CPT is now a recognized and respected international journal, serving as an outlet for the wide range of concerns and styles embraced by contemporary political theorists. Subscriptions continue to rise and so do submissions. We have received a record number of submissions in the last year, all of which have been read and commented upon by referees and editors.

Our regular features, Political Theory Revisited and Theory and Practice continue to serve as sites of interest for contributors and readers. The editors are open to new ideas and suggestions from Board members and the wider community of political theorists. A suggestion was made at a recent Board meeting in the USA that we undertake interviews with leading political theorists of differing styles and nationalities and we are acting upon this suggestion by setting up a new feature, Dialogues with Political Theorists. The first of these interviews will be published in a subsequent issue of volume 7.

Another way in which CPT has sought to promote political theory has been to institute a prize for the best article in each volume, and Michael Saward's 'The Representative Claim' was a worthy winner of the award for 2006. We are confident that the journal will go from strength to strength in the succeeding years and we wish to thank the members of the political theory community, the journal's Board members, referees, authors and readers who are contributing to the success of the journal.
