Cees B. M. van Riel
Cees van Riel is Professor of Corporate Communication at the Rotterdam School of Management of the Erasmus University Rotterdam in The Netherlands. He is the author of several books and articles about corporate identity, reputation management and corporate branding in international journals. Van Riel is strongly involved in international networks of academics, like being Editor in Chief of the Corporate Reputation Review and Managing Director of the Reputation Institute together with Charles Fombrun of the New York University. He is also the founding director of the International Master Program of Corporate Communication a joint venture of five European Business Schools (Erasmus/Rotterdam, Esade/Barcelona, HEC/Paris, BI/Oslo and CBS/Copenhagen) offering a degree program to practitioners with five years of experience.
Cees van Riel has been working as a consultant for a number of Dutch, Belgium, British and Norwegian companies in the last 15 years. His specialization is the development of an appealing positioning strategy for companies that are involved in an intense process of change (merger, increasing competition, internationalization, etc.). He has worked for companies like Dutch Telecom, TPG (Dutch Mail and TNT), Siemens Belgium, Philips, Heineken, Norwegian Railroads, Fortis, Kredietbank, ING, ABN AMRO, IBM, etc.
