Professor Derek Holder M IDM is the Founder and Managing Director of the Institute of Direct Marketing (IDM). After graduating from Manchester University, Derek worked in marketing for two major multi-nationals - Ford and British Airways. Then as Marketing Director at McGraw-Hill and Reader's Digest, he gained wide experience in both consumer and business-to-business direct marketing.

A consultant and trainer for multinationals around the world, Derek has also developed undergraduate and postgraduate programmes in direct marketing. In 1981, he created the world's first Diploma in Direct & Interactive Marketing and has subsequently designed Certificates in Direct Marketing, E-Marketing and CRM. He is also Co-editor of the internationally recognised Journal of Direct, Data and Digital Marketing Practice (formerly Interactive Marketing).

The IDM, now in its 18th year, is recognised as the world's leading body for professional development and training in direct and interactive marketing.
