Abstract

Aruna Uprety shares the victory of health and women's activists in legalizing abortion in Nepal. She indicates how important international support and at the national level free media, open discussion and democratic practice are to bring about change. At the same time she warns that for the changes to reach poor rural women much still needs to be done.
