Abstract
Tzinnia Carranza López looks at the quest for survival by indigenous and rural women in Mexico and Mesoamerica who are exploring economic alternatives. Many of them are artisans, gatherers, farmers, midwives, and healers. She explores how they are seeking to overcome the neo-liberal commerce system, which is threatening the sale of their goods and services through the solidarity economy.
