Introduction
European Management Review is the exciting new forum for international management research supported by the European Academy of Management.
The journal increased its frequency to four issues per volume in 2009!
A new Section of EMR!
QUESTIONS & PROPOSITIONS
We are pleased to announce a new Section of EMR – called Questions & Propositions which will begin with issue 6.3, to be published in September of this year.
Q&P will publish short pieces, of about one page, clearly divided into three sections:
- a research question;
- a focal proposition that the authors believe answers the question;
- one or two paragraphs of summary logic for the proposition.
Authors may add a fourth section explaining how they would test the proposition. Note that we are not asking for the specific databases to be used, but for the ideal data and research design to test the theory, and for the logic of the test. The authors are free to base their test on statistical analyses, experiments, case studies, or whatever method they feel most appropriate.
The Q&P submissions will be refereed, with referees asked to assess (1) the questions for importance (conceptual and/or empirical), (2) the propositions for a combination of novelty and face validity, and (3) the summary logic for its potential to be developed into a more comprehensive logic. The fourth section will be evaluated for its effectiveness in testing the theory.
The goal of Q&P is to provide a platform to discuss ideas that have reached more than ‘bubble stage’ but are not yet fully fledged. We will consider publications of comments and suggestions on published Q&P ideas in later Issues of the Review to further enhance the spirit of a discussion forum.
Submissions to Q&P enable the authors to receive early stage reviewers’ reactions to assess whether their ideas are worth pursuing further or how to modifiy them. This is why we encourage in particular submissions from PhD students and young scholars. We plan to involve leading scholars to review the submissions.
Submissions to this section should be sent through the regular EMR on-line paper submission process. Please indicate in the cover letter that the submission is to the Q&P section.
