Welcome to Feminist Review
When Feminist Review first appeared in 1979 it described itself as a socialist and feminist journal, a vehicle to unite research and theory with political practice, and contribute to the development of both.
After more than 25 years of publishing and amidst a plethora of specialist feminist journals, Feminist Review sustains its unique role as an interdisciplinary, agenda-setting publication. Situated outside traditional disciplinary boundaries Feminist Review insists on the theoretical and strategic centrality of gender in all its complexity.

Feminist Review Annual Lecture
Cynthia Enloe on ‘How Long Does a War Last?’
Tuesday 21st July 2009, 6 - 8:30pm,
Khalili Lecture Theatre, University of London, Russell Square, Thornhaugh Street
A war doesn’t simply end…and doesn’t end simply. With British forces withdrawing from Iraq and US forces scaling back, and with Western media turning away from Iraq, there’s a temptation to imagine the Iraq War is ‘over’. In reality, Iraqi women, British and US women, in all their distinct conditions, each are being left to ‘pick up the pieces’. Those experiences of women – and their ideas about what they are doing – need to be taken seriously if the actual “costs” of war are to be tallied and if a more realistic grasp of “security” is to be gained.
