Ethnocentrism and Socialist-Feminist Theory

Michele Barrett and Mary McIntosh are both teachers of Sociology and are members of the Feminist Review collective.

The arguments made in this article are contentious and in thanking the following people for their comments on an earlier draft we do not imply that any of them agrees with us. Nevertheless we are grateful for help and advice from Veronica Beechey, Janet Bujra, Stuart Hall, Maxine Molyneux and William Outhwaite. Within the Feminist Review collective we are particularly grateful to Clara Mulhern for co-ordinating a range of differing opinions and comments.
