Nira Yuval-Davis is Reader in Ethnic and Gender Studies at Thames Polytechnic. She is the editor with Floya Anthias of Woman-Nation-State and has written extensively on gender, racism and nationalism. She is currently editing a collection with Gita Sahgal: Refusing Holy Orders: Women and Fundamentalism in Britain, which will be published shortly by Virago.
