Through the Parliamentary Looking Glass: 'Real' and 'Pretend' Families in Contemporary British Politics

I would like to thank Annie Whitehead, Eva Mackey, and Jacqueline Brown for critical discussions of this and earlier versions of this paper.

Susan Reinhold is a political anthropologist. Her D.Phil. dissertation at the University of Sussex, 'Local conflict and ideological struggle', details more thoroughly the events related to 'positive images' and Section 28 in late 1980s Britain. Sue and her partner Shannon Dubach live in San Francisco and are planning a family.
