IAU Essay Competition

Thanks to Palgrave Macmillan, publisher of the Association's research and reference works, the International Association of Universities (IAU) will soon be launching its third IAU/Palgrave Prize in Higher Education Policy Research.

The Competition is open to academic, research or administrative staff in all IAU Member institutions around the world. The IAU Prize of �2,000 is awarded every two years.

The winner of the 2006 Essay Prize was Dr Loo Seng Piew of the Department of Educational Foundations, Sultan Hassanal Holkiah Institute of Education at the Universiti Brunei Darussalam. His study "Two Cultures of Science: on language-culture and incommensurability" will be published in Higher Education Policy, vol.20, no.1 (March 2007).

IAU would like to congratulate Dr Loo on his achievement and to thank all the candidates who submitted essays for consideration. Our thanks also go to members of the Jury for their time and suggestions.

The theme of the 2008 Prize will be announced in February 2007.
