The Journal aims to facilitate excellence in marketing and strategic management in the pharmaceutical, medical device, diagnostic and other markets in which the customer is a clinician or related professional.
Every quarter the Journal contains a range of peer-reviewed papers, including both practitioner studies and leading edge academic research, covering the breadth of the industry. The Journal also provides expert analysis of the changes taking place in the global medical market, and reviews the latest market research reports available in all three industry sectors.

News
We are delighted to announce the appointment of Dr Brian D Smith as the new Editor of the Journal of Medical Marketing. Brian founded and then edited the Journal for 3 years before stepping down but is now back to take charge again and develop the journal further. Brian is the founder of PragMedic and can be contacted at brian.smith@pragmedic.com. We will also be updating the general Editorial Board over the next few months.
A NOTE FROM THE NEW EDITOR, BRIAN D. SMITH:
I have taken over this role from Len Lerer, who has worked tirelessly in this role for the past 5 years. Those of you with longer memories may remember that I was in fact the founding editor of the journal from 2000 to 2003. I am now delighted to take up the reins again.
In general terms, my goal is to continue to publish insightful and rigorous research into marketing and strategy in those sectors where the customers are medical professionals, healthcare providers and healthcare systems. To enable my work towards this goal, I would welcome any suggestions from you about what you would like to see in the Journal. In particular, I would value your suggestions regarding:
- What aspects of the journal do you currently like or feel could be improved?
- What market changes and developments would you like to see examined by the Journal?
- What geographic areas would you like to see discussed in the journal?
- What market sectors or sub-sectors do you feel would worthy of examination by the Journal?
- What other aspects of medical marketing would you like to see included in the Journal?
In addition to your suggestions, I would be delighted to hear from you if you would like to contribute more to the journal. You may for instance wish to join the editorial advisory board or to write for the journal on a regular or ad hoc basis.
