The author of the above paper wishes to apologise that the dates quoted in the introduction to this paper for the 6th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion held in Montreal and the conference on the Role of Public Health in the Prevention of War Related Injury held in Vienna were incorrect.

The dates should have been quoted as the 6th World Conference on Injury Prevention and Safety Promotion in Montreal, 2002 and the Role of Public Health in the Prevention of War Related Injury in Vienna, 2004.
