On page 422 of the above article, the sentence that begins "That the Spaniard..." was printed in error. The correct version should read:
"That the Spaniard is not named here suggests that he does not simply reference Gustavo as lover, but also Gustavo as colonizer."

Laura Halperin received her BA in Comparative Literature from Brown University and MA and PhD in Comparative Literature from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor. She just completed her first year as an assistant professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She is working on a book about the gendered, racialized and ethnicized pathologization of Latinas in late twentieth century Latina literature and is interested in the interdisciplinary connections between Latina/o Studies, literary studies, US Third World Feminism, postcolonial studies, history, ethnography and community psychology.
