About RSS Web feeds for Palgrave Macmillan Journals

A Web feed is a computer-readable file that summarises the information published on a web site. Our Web feeds use the popular RSS (RDF Site Summary) format. They provide headlines, summaries and links for all the new content published on their respective sites.

RSS web feeds have multiple uses, but they fall into two main categories:

  1. It makes it easier for users to keep track of our content. Many RSS readers are available to download - click here for a useful list. (Please note we cannot recommend the use of any specific RSS reader; you use them at your own risk.) Once the software is installed, you simply enter the addresses of RSS files that you are interested in and the program will regularly check each of them, alerting you to any new items it finds. This is a very convenient way of staying up to date with the content of a large number of sites.
  2. It makes it easier for other websites to link to our content. Because RSS feeds can easily be read by computers, it's also easy for webmasters to configure their sites so that the latest headlines from another site's RSS feed are embedded into their own pages, and updated automatically.

The listing of all Palgrave Macmillan Journals' Web feeds is also available as an OPML file and as a master 'feed of feeds' RSS file to facilitate import into RSS newsreaders.

How to view Palgrave news feeds

Setting up a feed differs from one RSS newsreader application to another, but it usually involves the following steps:

  • Copy the newsfeed link. Right-click on the link and select "Copy link location" (Firefox) or "Copy shortcut" (Internet Explorer"). Alternatively, select the entire link text with your cursor and press CTRL-C.
  • Paste the link into your newsreader application. Right click and select "paste", or use CTRL-V on the keyboard.

If you click directly on the link, you will see the "raw" source format of the news feed. Again, just copy the address of the newsfeed by selecting the URL in your browser's address bar, and paste it into your newsreader application as above.
