Introduction of site licenses to Palgrave Macmillan

From the subscription year 2009, institutional online access to Palgrave Macmillan journals is available as a site license via sister company Nature Publishing Group. To set up site license access for your institution you need to talk directly to an NPG sales representative.

Palgrave Macmillan journals have moved onto a site license sales model as part of an ongoing commitment to providing improved online content, functionality and customer service. We are facilitating the transition from a predominantly print to a predominantly online world through a site license model. Decoupling the online product from print enables Palgrave Macmillan to offer increased benefits to customers including a streamlined process for ordering and customer services through NPG.

What is a site license

A Palgrave Macmillan site license allows you to provide your users with immediate access to groundbreaking articles. All site license customers are entitled to access usage data, have unlimited concurrent users, gain access to archive content dating back up to four years (where available) and benefit from perpetual access to paid for years. Users benefit from the functionality and convenience of accessing publications online, from Advance Online Publication (AOP) to extensive linking to wider research.

Following the same model as our sister company, Nature Publishing Group, a site license is easy to manage and can be tailored to include the journals most suitable to your institution’s requirements.

Site-wide access is controlled via IP recognition, enabling you to support every researcher, student or reader at your institution. Licenses are available for all institution types, including:

  • Academic institutions
  • Consortia
  • Corporations
  • Government organizations
  • Clinical and teaching hospitals
  • Museums and societies
  • Public libraries
  • National, international and state-wide access is available
