Test referral linking

When you click a link on a Web page, your browser sends a request for that page to the web server hosting the page. Normally, this request includes the address of the page containing the link. This is called the "referring URL". Palgrave Journals relies on this referring URL to authenticate Society members, in order to grant them access to the journals to which their Society has access rights.

Browsers normally sent the refering URL to web servers every time a web link is clicked. However, this can be disabled by some browser security settings, or by security or privacy software, either on the user's machine, or on an organisation's firewall.
