Abstract
In this introduction, the authors present a collection of papers exploring the troubled relationship between psychoanalysis and non-normative desire. Specifically, the four paper contributors offer critical suggestions that allow for affirmative theorizing of non-normative desire. Finally, the authors describe the history of the Sexualities & Gender Identities Committee of Division 39 (Psychoanalysis) of the American Psychological Association and its series of panels from which the current papers were adapted.
