1is a senior lecturer in Tourism Management and Business in the School of Business, James Cook University, Australia. His current research interests include visitor attraction management, tourist shopping, tourism landscapes, streetscapes and servicescapes, tourism and technology, bibliometric analysis of tourism, tourism and generation Y and tourism education and he has authored and co-authored a number of academic papers and publications in these areas.

2is the STCRC Senior Research Fellow in Urban Tourism at the School of Leisure, Sport and Tourism, University of Technology, Sydney. Deborah's interests are in sustainable tourism management, urban tourism, tourism planning, community volunteers and the impacts of events. Deborah has been a member of the BEST Education Network since 2002.

3is a professor at the School of Hotel and Restaurant Management at Northern Arizona University. Along with more than 20 years teaching experience, Dr Jurowski has owned and operated her own resort business, and developed and administered a destination marketing organisation. She serves her professional community as President of the Greater Western Chapter of the Travel and Tourism Research Association and Chair of the Module Development Committee of Business Enterprises for Sustainable Travel Education Network. Her interests include teaching and conducting research on sustainable tourism and environmental management of hospitality businesses. She has published papers in both academic and trade journals. While teaching at Black Hills State University in Spearfish, Jurowski developed and taught one of the nation's first web-based courses.

4is an associate professor and Director of the Centre for Tourism, Culture and Innovation at the University of Southern Denmark. She is a cultural anthropologist and her research interests are in the field of sustainable tourism development. She has published on national park development, heritage tourism, cruise tourism, tourism innovation, tourism crisis communication, corporate social responsibility, NGOs and democratic accountability in the Eastern Caribbean. Dr Liburd has conducted a number of research projects relating to competence development for tourism practitioners and tourism educators. She is the Chair of the BEST Education Network.

5is a senior lecturer in Tourism at the University of Surrey, and Tourism Editor for Tourism and Hospitality Research.

6is a professor in the School of Business at James Cook University where she teaches in tourism and about sustainability issues and persuasive communication. Her background in psychology supports her interest in understanding how individuals make decisions about and respond to tourism and leisure experiences. Her background in sociology supports her interest in understanding how communities make decisions about and respond to tourism developments in their regions.
